4. Troubleshooting

Disabling Caller ID

LM56K USB, driver v2.50

Disabling Caller ID

DD / COM One 19 Oct 1999. Updated 12 Oct 2000.

Trouble solved

--------------

Solve the problem where the application don't get the second incoming call.

- Microsoft Windows 98 DUN server

- Symantec WinFax Pro v8

- Symantec PC Anywhere v8

- Most of other TAPI softwares.

Explanation

-----------

When LM56K is installed, Caller ID (modem see the number of caller) is activated.

In most of countries, to have Caller ID activated you must get an additional subscription.

If Caller ID is not activated on the phone line, LM56K will have troubles to answer incoming calls.

Note

----

Adding the string "AT #CID=0" in Control Panel / modems / additional string is not 100% efficient (Win 98 sent this command then the AT#CID=1 from the INF).

Modification to do

------------------

1. In the directory:

c:\windows\inf\other\

2. Edit the file:

mdmslusb.inf

3. Search for the string "#cid"

4. Here is the line you will find:

HKR, EnableCallerID,           1,, "at#cid=1<cr>"

5. Replace "#cid=1" by "#cid=0".

6. In the directory:

c:\windows\inf

7. Delete the files:

Drvdata.bin and Drvidx.bin

8. Open "My computer" / "Control panel" / "Modems"

Delete: "COMOne Light Modem 56K"

9. Restart the computer.

Windows will redetect the modem and find automatically the driver.
